Lilac-Themed Birthday Party

Hey, everybody! Today I present a Lilac-birthday party I did last week for my grandmother. Once again, I could not come up with any ideas until the day of, so this was all thrown together the morning of, but I was actually pretty pleased with the results and more importantly, I think my grandmother liked it, too. I apologize about the wrinkly tablecloth, I thought it was folded right so there would be none and realized too late that the tablecloth needed some ironing. I used it for Riley's past birthday party or two. Probably I am fortunate to have realized that too late, though, because I'm pretty sure it would have caught on fire. I used a mix of real and fake florals to make everything seem real. All of the greenery came from my grandparents yard, as did the roses my grandfather got and put in a vase and wildflowers. The actual Lilac-like flowers came from Dollar Tree because the real ones are out of season. The moss and hanging white roses came from Dollar Tree, too. The pottery was handmade and the music boxes all came from my music box collection at home. They just happened to match perfect! I found various free pintables online and used those to make a banner and the 'Happy Birthday' sign (which I added the text to). I ended up just using flowers from our butterfly bushes as favors and tied on handmade gift tags with purple Dollar Tree lace. I added some sparkling tulle to the lower part of the peg board for a little more...well, sparkle. For extra treats (maybe those count as favors, too?) I added Dollar Tree ginger snaps, because my grandmother loves ginger snaps. I hope you enjoy!

With October on the way and official fall tomorrow, I hope to begin sharing some costume tutorials soon! Thank you for visiting!

Modern Silver and Purple Girl's Mario Party

For my cousin's fifth birthday, she asked for a Mario themed party, so I was excited to try a unique color scheme, which was pale purple (or lavender), white and silver. It also had some pink and pink-purple shades in the watercolors and treats. Her favorite character is Toad, so you may notice a particular emphasis on Toad decor and mushrooms. The star balloons came from Amazon, the flowers were a mixture of backyard wildflowers and a bouquet from Currahee Gardens, the glow-in-the-dark car favors inside of the pinatas were from Dollar Tree, and the cake was from Ingles. Everything else, including the costume, was handmade (and I look foward to sharing those tutorials with you in upcoming posts). My brothers contributed by creating a white-and-purple pixel Mario (by Will) and giant Lego party scene (by Jacob), which they invented themselves. I made the crayons with a silicoln mold from Walmart. The holographic paper I used for the various signs/labels was from Michaels. I made the marshmellow treats myself, and I will share the recipe in a future post as well. I made the adult favors by printing wallet photo prints, creating holographic-confetti-filled stars and placing them in favor bags. The circle banner was just watercolored paper cut into circles and glued onto a string. You can view the Mario mystery box pinata tutorial here. Without further ado, here's Riley's fifth birthday party:

I hope you enjoyed it! I will post again soon!
