Sunflowers & Skates Mother's Day Party

Hey guys, one (?) more post for today! For this past Mother's Day, after much brainstorming and struggling to come up with a theme, I decided to combine my mother's favorite flower (sunflowers) with a favorite hobby of hers (ice skating, which I wanted to be part of the gift). I call the theme "Sunflowers & Skates", as the title says.

On the poster I painted, I wrote "Happy Mother's Day to the coolest mom!" I used Dollar Tree sunflowers in the balloon arch. The dishes, vines, large vase of flowers, and such were things I had on hand. I got the mini teacher notebooks and cookies were from Walmart. The sunflower seeds and balloon came from Dollar Tree. I designed labels on Canva for the sunflower seeds that read "I couldn't have been raised by a better mother! Thank you for rooting for me and helping me grow!" (But I accidentally printed them too big and the sunflowers on them got cut off). The felt was from Walmart. To make the banner, I printed ice skate and sunflower graphics from Canva, cut them out, and hot glued them to felt triangles on yarn.

Thank you for visiting!

Modern Plant-Themed 24th Birthday Party

Hey guys, today I am sharing an event that I actually did not put together, but was a surprise for my birthday last month my family and relatives kindly did for me. I said surprise --allow me to clarify. I knew there was a 'party' but I did not know they had time to decorate and had gone all out for it, so it was a pleasant surprise. If you know me well, you know I hate many surprises, surprise parties included, but I enjoyed this surprise.

As the balloons show, I turned 2,424. Man, how time flies. The decades just go by faster every century. They chose a plant-ish theme and simple colors, which is perfect for me. My mother even got fancy, practical notebook favors and my grandparents gave me a lovely pot of live flowers that miraculously are still alive as I type. The four balloon popped, so they got creative and used matching tissue paper on a cardboard four, which looked more unique, so it worked out well. I honestly thought that was intentional, so thumbs up for great improv!

I hope you enjoyed this theme idea as much as I did, and look forward to sharing more events soon!

Lilac-Themed Birthday Party

Hey, everybody! Today I present a Lilac-birthday party I did last week for my grandmother. Once again, I could not come up with any ideas until the day of, so this was all thrown together the morning of, but I was actually pretty pleased with the results and more importantly, I think my grandmother liked it, too. I apologize about the wrinkly tablecloth, I thought it was folded right so there would be none and realized too late that the tablecloth needed some ironing. I used it for Riley's past birthday party or two. Probably I am fortunate to have realized that too late, though, because I'm pretty sure it would have caught on fire. I used a mix of real and fake florals to make everything seem real. All of the greenery came from my grandparents yard, as did the roses my grandfather got and put in a vase and wildflowers. The actual Lilac-like flowers came from Dollar Tree because the real ones are out of season. The moss and hanging white roses came from Dollar Tree, too. The pottery was handmade and the music boxes all came from my music box collection at home. They just happened to match perfect! I found various free pintables online and used those to make a banner and the 'Happy Birthday' sign (which I added the text to). I ended up just using flowers from our butterfly bushes as favors and tied on handmade gift tags with purple Dollar Tree lace. I added some sparkling tulle to the lower part of the peg board for a little more...well, sparkle. For extra treats (maybe those count as favors, too?) I added Dollar Tree ginger snaps, because my grandmother loves ginger snaps. I hope you enjoy!

With October on the way and official fall tomorrow, I hope to begin sharing some costume tutorials soon! Thank you for visiting!
