Easter 2025

This post is extremely short, but here are three photos from our Easter 2025. The decorations were very simple because I also did a birthday party on the same day and it felt wrong to combine the two, so I decorated our house for Easter and another house for a birthday. I painted the backdrop, which was an ordinary poster, used sticks outside for the cross, and went for a dramatic complimentary color scheme of dark red and dark green (although the backdrop turned more blue than planned) for the symbolism those colors hold. And also simply because I love that color pairing, and had not done that palette for Easter before.

Thanks for stopping by!

DIY Marvel (Easter) Gift Basket

To go hand in hand with the post I shared earlier, here is another themed Easter basket that could be used for any occasion, this time for Marvel fans. Again, I printed Marvel activities from the internet along with the clock from Loki, and I bought my brother a Hawkeye shirt I happened to come across in advance at Five Below. The card I handmade read "As you Marvel at the miraculous Easter story, I hope you enjoy this super gift!" But a card could say something like "I hope you have a marvelous birthday!" This gift was very simple, I like to keep celebrations Loki. Sorry, I'm going to stop now.

I hope you find this handy!

DIY Beatles-Themed Easter Basket

This post is super random, but I was looking back at gifts I put together and thought that even though this is an Easter gift, the idea could easily be translated into a birthday or Christmas gift for those of you who, like me, have a huge Beatle fan in their life. I used a lot of free printables found on Google such as the Yellow Submarine on the front. In the Easter eggs, I printed out a mini Paul, Beatles activities such as crossword puzzles, and you could also include sheet music for musicians. This gift was honestly very last minute, so those printables were a life saver. A gift saver, I suppose is more accurate. I added a decorate-your-own-mug kit (Michaels sells them), cookies that I repackaged to look fancier, and a handmade card. The card said "You can't Beatle that Jesus has done for you. Happy Easter!" or something along those lines. If you didn't get that, you are not alone, but I tried.

I hope you found this simple gift idea useful. Thanks for stopping by!

Star Wars Gift in a Bag (DIY) Gift

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share a quick gift tutorial from this past Easter that I made for my brother: a Star Wars 'Gift in a Bag'. Usually you see 'gift in a box', 'gift in a jar' and such, but I was in a situation where I had to use what I had, and I didn't have jars, baskets, or good boxes, but I had paper bags. This can, of course, be adapted into a jar gift, gift box or gift basket. Although this was made for Easter, this would make a great birthday gift, and could even be turned into a Christmas 'Star Wars in a Stocking' gift. This is super easy to out together. I literally ended up creating all of my gifts on Easter morning, using what I had.
Basically, to create this you need a collection of Star Wars items you know the recipient will enjoy. These could be bought or handmade. If you have Easter eggs, you can put items inside them and create character faces with them. I made Yoda, C3PO, and Darth Vader. I hot-glued tissue paper on my eggs, added cardboard for the ears on Yoda and a cardboard helmet piece on Darth Vader with hot-glue, and painted them with layers of acrylic paint. I also used markers on top of the paint when it dried for details I think (I may have also painted those, though, I really don't remember), and used a metallic silver on Darth Vader. What you include in your gift depends, but if you are making the gift for somebody who enjoys art, you could include art supplies. I filled the eggs with homemade clay, and the sack in the photos below held acrylic paint tubes. I hand-painted a baby Yoda tee-shirt as well, but if you make this gift for somebody older clothes can be tricky and I tend to avoid clothing gifts. I actually don't know if the shirt would fit in a paper bag, although I think it would, because mine was still drying when I presented it. Like I said, it was very last minute. I would have liked to include more, but I was using what I had and didn't order online in advance. Some ideas might be Star Wars books (stories, parodies, puzzles, tutorial books and so on), accessories or socks, candy molds that you could use to make either treats or crayons with, notebooks, cooking gadgets, and countless other items. When you have all of your items, the last step is to create a label by printing out the Star Wars logo (which is easy to find on Google), glue it on a folded or cutout piece of card-stock with hot glue or a glue-stick, and write "Gift in a ____" ("Gift in a Bag" in my case), and attach the label on (I stapled mine onto the bag, but in a gift basket it would be tucked in, and in a jar it would be tied around the jar or glued onto the lid). That's all there is to it! If you create a similar gift, I encourage you to get creative and turn things you know that the recipient would love into Star-Wars-themed items. Remember, make everything cohesive and stick to a simple color palette.

I hope you enjoyed! I am not sure when I will be able to post in the coming few weeks due to my school workload, but I hope to continue posting weekly. I can't guarantee that, though. Thank you for visiting!

Easter and Earth Day, 2020

Hello, everyone! This is a very unusual post for many reasons. One, becuase I never combine events but both of these were so small I just thought I should share them in one post. For another reason, I love Easter, it's one of my favorite holidays, but I couldn't decorate this Easter so I put my brothers in charge. Being in quarentine and all, they used what they had, which was pretty much paper and a cardboard box, and handmade the decorations. They drew lots of pictures to display as posters, a centerpiece with pictures on all four sides and the top made with the cardboard box, and a banner of sorts made of paper drawings. They used some household things to make a stand for a cross they had and displayed that, too. I enjoyed their drawings and creativity, and I am so grateful they took that duty over for me. That Easter was very unique, between Covid 19, online church, and tornado warnings, but overall it was pretty good, and I can truly say it was an Easter like no other.

For Earth Day yesterday, I ended up throwing up some decorations the morning of from cardstock, plants and branches in our yard, and my pegboard, along with my blanket I love to decorate with and some dishes. I wanted an earthy, natural look with overall subtle colors. My family made some Earth day cakes and my brothers frosted them. I made up a cake recipe as well, and I hope to share that and my weird pizza recipe. They are both made with only four (of my favorite) ingredients. I did an art lesson for Earth day and my youngest brother made Earth day illustrations meant to promote recyling while also being narrative. I normally wouldn't really bother with Earth day although I have thrown up some decorations before, yet this year I didn't do any April Fool's Day pranks or Easter decorations and I put a lot of effort into Earth Day, probably becuase I was procrastinating from homework. It has been a very strange year. Anyway, I hope these ideas give you some inspiration for Earth Day next year, paper decorations, or even for some activities to while at home (baking, nature art, doodling, making a recycled decoration).

Thank you so much for visiting! I look foward to sharing more with you soon!

2019 Easter Party

For this year's Easter celebration, I chose a pale blue-and-white color palette with wood, lace and other elegant decor accents. I did a simple, modern calligraphy poster and made a small, blue balloon arch. I found some wildflowers from our yard for the centerpiece. I made everything the day of, so there wasn't a whole lot. Also, I didn't take pictures of the food, unfortunately. The napkin holders are super easy to make. I just twisted and cut pipe cleaners into crosses.

I have a magical rainbow-themed girl's birthday party and lots of DIY gifts coming up!
