2023 Bedroom Tour (Fairytale/Story Theme)

 Good evening, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I am on a school break, so I am hoping to share a couple posts the next two days, but here is a quick room tour to start with. I decided to do a story/fairytale sort of theme with lots of animals and nature in my décor, and I decorated the day after Christmas (as always) for the new year. All of the decorations were handmade, from the thrift store or on hand. For example, I used dried roses and leaves I had saved to decorate my piano. In other words, these are cheap and easy decoration ideas I hope some of you might find applicable.

2019 Bedroom Tour

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing a quick little room tour. Last year my bedroom was decorated in a Scandanavian-Bohemian style with an astronomy theme. I painted a chalk-baord wall, and although I am happy with it, I suggest not doing one on a bumpy wall and over a bed. It came out really bumpy and the chalk dust falls on my bed. Also, when I'm in bed I accidentally wipe off whatever chalk drawings or writings are on the bottom. Anyway, for decor I drew constellations, used rocks and my salt lamp, and used a calligraphic print of a watercolor I made a few years ago of one of my very favorite quotes: "Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night." The woven blanket was a gift from Rahab's ropes. I also used some of my nerdy book-themed decor like music boxes, a Narnia candle, and an Alice display (also gifts) just because. I went for an indigo, purple, black, and white theme overall. I went for a very minimalist look, so there's not much to show. The shelf I found at a thrift store and repainted white with chalk paint. Christmas Room Tour, 2019

Hello, everyone! I'm so sorry I haven't posted in forever! I have a crazy, overwhelming amount to catch up on, but maybe this will be the year I can  become more consistent. Anyway, here is a brief Christmas bedroom tour from this past Christmas season. At the bottom I will include a tutorial for my bell banner, which is super easy to make. Even though the time is past, hopefully this will come in handy for the Christmas season of 2020.

Bell banner tutorial:

You will need:
-Bells (mine were a pack of regular sized bells from Dollar Tree)
-Brown acrylic paint
-A paintbrush
-A paper towel of some alternative
-A string

Step 1. Lay the bells out on something you can paint such as a paper plate. Use a medium-sized paint brush that is frayed, if possible, and dab brown paint. You can dab the paint over the whole bell or just in parts. I suggest leaving negative space for a rusty look. Then dab the wet paint with tissue or a napkin. The texture should look rough. Do one side, let them dry, then repeat the process for the other side of the bells.

Step 2. String the bells onto a long string and tie them on as you string them individually so that they don't slide around. That's all there is to it!

I was going for a modern-farmhouse mixed with modern-Scandinavian style, and since metallic and shimmering things seemed to be in style, I ended up incorporating some shiny sequins and a sparkly silver tree in my tree display as well as the gold bell banner. I made a dried orange banner that I was very excited about, but then I never actually strung it up and they rotted. The beautiful nativity string art was created by a friend and sold in support of my local HCT theater, and my little brother drew my wonderful Knee-Neep Christmas picture. I typed the typography print on Microsoft word and printed it on brown card-stock, then just drew the star. I saw that quote and design on a welcome mat online. Overall, I wanted a warm Christmas environment that was very natural and minimalist-looking with a calm sort of elegance. I hope you enjoyed the tour!

My 2018 Room Tour

Hello! Sorry it has been so long! My schedule has been crazy, and I recently lost one of my closest friends/relatives. I have a lot of costume tutorials to share if I can find time, plus two new parties (one frog-themed, one pizza-themed). Today I'd like to share my bedroom tour of 2018. I had my room decorated like this since New Years, but I wanted to get in 'the fall mood' with candles, blankets and fall colors, so I changed my room a few weeks back. Up until then, my theme was black and white scandinavian, with an emphasis on books. I wanted my room to reflect my personality and favorite things, which I'll elaborate on below. I hope you enjoy:

I love the Wizard of Oz book series, plus I collect music boxes, So I displayed the Wizard of Oz music box, an amazing gift I was given for Christmas, in the center of my room. Beneath it are two of my favorite books. On the opposite side of my dresser, I placed another special (graduation) gift, which was a vintage camera, to reflect my passion for photography and love of antiques. I lined up another special vintage-camera-gift and my very first camera next to it. The bird added a Scandinavian touch, plus it sort-of shows my love for animals. I filled my handmade blanket ladder with succulents. Above it was another precious gift, an illustration from "The Kingdom of Neep," a book by my art teacher, Jan Walker. In the corner was my piano and above it, the finishing touch: a cat, of course. I hope you enjoyed, and maybe found ideas for incorporating your own interests to your interior.

Christmas Room Tour, 2016

Here's a tour of my Christmas-decorated bedroom. Click here if you would like to see last year's tour. I decided to go with a bright-and-modern theme this year. The color scheme was red, green, purple, white, black, yellow and blue. It was very simple. I made the banner, and the lights were $0.50 at a community thrift store. The ornaments on the tree were all made and given to me by my art teacher.
