I had a birthday dinner around the second week in January. I'm a crazy cat lady, so instead of doing a literary party theme (as is typical of me), after much thought (there's so many good books!) I decided to do a simple, monochrome cat party. I made a little balloon arch, black tassel banner, and 'Meow' poster for the desert table. Opposite to that, I used a giant drawing I'd done over a year back of my cat, Sunshine, number balloons, and placed the favors there, which were cat notebooks I bought for $0.20 each and painted, and headbands that were less than $0.50 each, that I hot-glued felt ears to. I'm not a huge cake person, so asked my mother to make cookies instead. She makes amazing mocha and peanut-butter cookies, so they were wonderful! We had soup and salad for the meal, but I forgot to take pictures. I also hand-drew the faces on the cups, and made the place holders with hot-glue, nail-polish, and clothespins. As photo props, I made some hilarious cat-face masks from a calendar (which explains why one has a Santa hat on). I handmade nineteen-cat-shaped candles with polymer clay, but I couldn't use them because I painted them with nail polish, then realized that nail polish was flammable. Not ideal for cake candles. Instead, I squeezed nineteen regular candles onto a little cookie.
My next post will be either a Lego Minifigure party or Valentines DIY, so come again soon!
