Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Classroom Party

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is safe and warm! Today I have lots of posts to share (if I do not lose internet), starting with this classroom Charlie Brown Thanksgiving party, themed around the movie "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving". We did not watch the movie in class, and it was honestly in no way connected to what we were studying. While Schulz's "Peanuts" comics and the classic Charlie Brown movies hold a dear place in my heart, I chose this theme because several students doodled pictures of Snoopy throughout the semester and seemed to like it. Plus, I have always wanted to have a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving feast with popcorn, pretzels, and toast with toppings (which I bought from Aldi), and jelly beans (which I forgot to buy for my class). I bought honey, peanut butter, Nutella (which was the most popular), and cinnamon sugar as topping options. I took my family's toaster for the day. The balloons were from Dollar Tree, and I doodled a picture on the board with Expo markers the night before. I planned out group station-type activities to do before each feast, so I put the desks in a circle. To make a mini tablecloth for each desk, I cut some regular-sized tablecloths from Walmart into about eight rectangles each.

I hope you enjoyed!

Blessings,
Lauryn

Easy Matilda Costume Idea

Here is a super easy tutorial for a Matilda costume from Roald Dahl's book. You probably have the materials on hand already, but if not they are easy to find, and this costume takes only a few minutes to throw together. All that you need is a blue dress, preferably with half-sleeves or long-sleeves. I had mine from a thrift store sale. I suggest you carry a book or two, or a some other element from the story so that people know what character you are. This costume is very quick, and Matilda is a great literary character from an enjoyable classic. This costume is especially good for those who are looking for a costume at the last minute. Not to mention that it isn't too over-the-top, so you could even wear it to work or school.

I hope you enjoyed! I have more costumes to share, including another Roald Dahl costume, so I'll post again soon!

My 18th Chronicles of Narnia Birthday Party

For my 18th birthday I had a Chronicles of Narnia party. Not just "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" party, but a party inspired by the whole series. It was very simply decorated. The color scheme was green, black, white, gold, silver and burgundy. For the meals, we ate soup, bread, salad, and fruit. The next day we ate pancakes, eggs and fruit. No Turkish delight, unfortunately :( For favors, I made twig pencils and notebooks with C. S. Lewis quotes. I also made natural leaf crowns with ribbons as party hats. The leaf garlands were made from magnolia leaves (thank you to the contributor!). It was fun!

I'll be doing some Valentine's Day posts soon!
