Jacob's 18th Musical-Themed Party

Hello! Today I am excited to share this musical-themed 18th birthday party for my brother. We decided to do 18 musicals for his 18th birthday, and I made a minimalist poster for each that I will show on part #2. The mini printout posters I made from online images and turned into a banner can be seen below. I did a dark green, light blue and brown color palette. For favors, I made music note key chains, plates that cracked in the oven (even though they claimed to be heat-safe, so I didn't give those away) and a cup for each guest with a music or musical theme that we thought would be personally meaningful to them. All of the guests were people of theatrical experience. We were going to play the soundtracks to the musicals as well, but as soon as I put one on with a group of drama performers ...well, you can imagine how that went, so to play the games we had to do without. I later found out the sharpie rubbed off the mugs even though I cooked them a long time and used a supposedly "waterproof'" special sharpie, so I do not advise doing that for favors unless you have found a sharpie that can stand the test of time and dishwashers. I painted the banner and found the Barnum quote online as a free printable (but I changed the colors). For a centerpiece I made Polymer creations inspired by each musical (so 18) going around a dish with a plant, and made a custom playbill with my brother to stick in the center of the plant. I painted all of the clay pieces with brown acrylic paint. I did things like raindrops on roses, a circus tent, Annie's locket, a golden ticket, and so on. I cut out various Broadway-inspired masks out of paper plates and put out gems, feathers, tulle, glue, string, glitter, hot glue and other materials to make Broadway masks with as well. With the same printable I made for the banner I created the cupcake toppers by gluing the posters on toothpicks. We played a lot of games and everyone seemed to have fun.

If you know a theater-loving teen and are looking for a theme, maybe this will come in handy. I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by!
