For my brother's birthday back in August, I did two Mario parties: one modern (see here) and this one, with a rustic theme. I went with vintage-type of neutrals mixed with red and dark blue, and painted an old-fashioned pixel Mario on the poster. I used a wooden star from Hobby Lobby or Michaels (which was on hand) and taped on paper eyes to give a Mario look, a basket from a thrift store, vintage milk bottles with straws from Michaels and a thrift store, and a handmade cloud banner to decorate the main table. I also used number balloons from Amazon with streamers to hang above the table. I made the Mario coins by drawing rectangles with a Sharpie onto paper plates from a dollar store, and hot-glueing them to twine so I could hang them up. I drew the photo poster, and wrote levels for each year (such as 'Level 6' for his sixth birthday photo). I handmade the favor boxes by simply wrapping boxes in paper and drawing the mystery symbol with Sharpie, and filled them with random nick-knacks. The green tube was just construction paper and cardboard. I will share a tutorial for the large mystery box. The beautiful cake was from Ingles, as was the Mario balloon.
I hope you like it! You can view more photos on my photography and business website, The Lauryn Studio, by clicking this link. I will soon share some Mario favor tutorials, so visit again soon!
