Handmade Moana Graduation Cap

Hello everyone! Finally, finally, years later than I planned,  I have graduated with an Art Education Bachelor of Science degree. For my graduation, I created a Moana-Van-Gogh mashup cap design with a Bible verse I love (Psalms 34:19). I thought I would share this as inspiration for any upcoming/future graduates who might be interested. I chose to include Moana because she is one of my favorite characters, an enneagram one, and her song "How Far I'll Go" went with it. I added Van Gogh's "Starry Night" background for the pun and since I am an art teacher. I created my design on cardstock so I could pop it on and off the actual cap without fear of destroying it. I used real leaves mixed with Dollar Tree flowers (hot-glued on) for the florals. The jewel stickers came from Walmart and Dollar Tree, and the golden letters from the latter. I painted the background with acrylic paints, but (being short on time) I printed Moana out and glued her on. I covered the whole thing in a clear varnish (from The Artful Barn) prior to adding the florals and bow. The ribbon was from Walmart ($1), and hot-glued on. I wrote the Bible verse on the painting, but the words did not show up, and the gel smeared when I added varnish, so I had to rewrite the verse on cardstock and glue/tape that on.

Thank you for stopping by! I really hope I can start blogging consistently again and share lots with you all soon!
