New Year's Eve Party, 2020

To start off 2020 and end 2019, I threw together a book-themed New Year's Eve party. I chose books because the new year could be considered 'turning a new page' or 'starting a new chapter' and I wished to do a unique theme that hadn't been done before. I made the poster with calligraphy markers and metallic gold paint. The table runner was just recycled book pages hot-glued together. I packaged hot chocolate with book pages and paper bags cut into labels and flowers and hot-glued. I didn't know what to write and I was really rushing in last-minute panic by then so I just wrote "Spread good cheer." I rolled up pages and glued them into cones, then glued twigs that were glued into old thread spools onto the cones for trees. The banner was just triangles cut from book pages and glued onto string that I brushed with metallic gold acrylic paint. The centerpiece consisted of a thrift-store moss wreath, accordion-folded book pages that I stapled into small bundles, confetti made from book pages and a star-shaped hole-puncher, and other props from my party stash of supplies. I also used my own pottery and sculpture along with dishes and books I had on hand. For the other favors, I made book marks with wise quotes for the new year by famous children's authors which I made with gel ink pens and watercolor paper, and a favor I saw on Pinterest of jingle bells with tags that said "Ring in the New Year!" You can find the link for those here. I used my banner from Christmas, so the bells had paint on them for a rustic look. I didn't take pictures of them, but we also had raffle prizes and tickets to do along with games. The prizes were games, drawing tools, balloons, bags, notebooks and other small surprises. We celebrated with friends and had a wonderful New Year's Eve. I considered it a wonderful ending to a year I was quite happy to say goodbye to (and that's an understatement).

I hope you enjoyed! I hope you visit again soon!
