DIY Mad Hatter Hat

Happy belated April Fools Day! I had this post ready to publish yesterday, but I forgot to finish and publish it! I was going to do a party yesterday, but changed my mind since I had other things to do. Just to prepare you all, I'm considering moving my blog to Wordpress and buying a domain name and hosting. I'm not sure when, but I'm pretty sure it will be soon. I'll give a warning and a new URL address first, though, so don't worry. For a costume party I made this Mad Hatter hat for my brother. This tutorial is entirely my own.

You will need:

-Cardboard
-Scissors
-Hot glue-gun with glue
-Newspaper
-Paper-mache mix
-Acrylic paint
-Paintbrush
-Time
-Ribbon

Step 1. Cut a circle with a hole for the brim of the hat, and another circle for the top. Then cut strips and glue everything together so they look like this:

Step 2. Dip newspaper strips into paper-mache mixture and coat the hat in them. Let dry. (I let mine dry overnight).

Step 3. Paint the hat. Mine took several layers. When the paint has dried, glue a ribbon (or, in my case, felt) around the hat. All done!

(I will be replacing the above image with a better one.)
